Mobile Telephone (cellphone) Directories
None of the public networks listed do cellphone lookups. In order to look up a mobile telephone number, you must rely upon specialized services.
Mobile telephone lookups are not as straightforward as landline lookups. Mobile telephony is relatively new compared to landline telephones, and the ide of organizing the subscriber information into directories that can be sold or distributed to interested parties has been seen as more of a nuisance to most mobile operators rather than a potential income generating complement to their existing business as network providers.
Reverse Telephone Directories
Some of the directories listed above will do 'reverse telephone number lookups' for you without any trouble whatsoever. This capability is slowly being eliminated by many firms and is more commonly a paid service.
Google used to do reverse telephone number lookups for US numbers for free, but this functionality has been recently disabled. You used to be able to simply enter a telephone number (with the area code) into Google and it would return the owner's name and address. Due to complaints regarding privacy, Google has quietly disabled this feature. They may decide at some point to enable it once again... stay tuned!
