There are a number of search engines which have been set up to find people. Some of those listed below, are not so much search engines as online communities geared around groups of people that are searchable. We have also created a number of our own custom search engines that will help to find people.

peoplefind PeopleFind: Find anyone instantly online using PeopleFind's advanced people search tools. They claim billions of records. You can browse their email directory, public records, reverse phone lookup tools.

Pipl is a 'scary' good people search which returns results complete with pictures of the people wherever it finds them, including facebook and popular photo and social sites.
Spock Spock advertises itself as, "The world's most accurate people search. Sign up to find people you know."
Spokeo guarantees the you will uncover personal information and possible 'dirt' on people. Their claim, "Want to see something juicy? Spokeo searches deep within 41 major social networks to find truly mouth-watering news about friends and coworkers."
Wink Wink is a free people search engine that helps you find people at social networks, blogs, and across the Web.
ZABASEARCH Zabasearch: Honestly free people search. All US postal addresses & telephone numbers revealed free.
3-times more listings than white pages phone directory. Lots of old listings though. Zabasearch will find addresses and phone numbers someone had 20 years ago! Tons of data to sift through.
ZoomInfo  ZoomInfo: Founded in 1999, ZoomInfo is a Web-based service that extracts information about people and companies from millions of published resources.

Boolean Search Techniques

(Boolean Operators)

  • AND: retrieves both keywords
  • OR: retrieves either keyword
  • NOT: excludes a keyword (use only at the end of a search string)
  • NEAR: will find documents that have the words in close proximity to each other, i.e. within 20 words
  • “ ”: retrieves only exactly what is enclosed in quotes. This is useful for finding people as shown by the examples in the table above. It is also important to note that when you are searching for an abbreviation, include a SPACE BEFORE AND AFTER THE ABBREVIATION!!!
  • *: This is called a wildcard (just the asterisk) and it will retrieve anything after the asterisk.
